The World's Greatest Travelers to be crowned in The Global Scavenger Hunt called GreatEscape2001®

In May 2001, twenty-five two person teams will race around the world in a global scavenger hunt adventure competing for $100,000 in cash and the title of "The World's Greatest Travelers".

"People will literally be going on a blind date with the world," says event organizer William D. Chalmers, winner of a previous around-the-world race. "Essentially the whole world becomes our gameboard. Contestants will be required to ride elephants to sacred temples, camels around the Pyramids, haggle in ancient souks, attend bizarre cultural festivals and catch a Himalayan sunrise or Greek isle sunset. Travel savvy participants will treasure this once-in-a-lifetime global adventure."

GreatEscape2001® is a combination race/rally where teams will circumnavigate the globe, traversing four continents to dozens of off-the-beaten-path and world-class destinations. Contestants will solve riddles, unravel cryptic clues and uncover physical hints while visiting sacred sites, famous museums, cultural events and experience breathtaking natural beauty. The entrance fee for the event to be held between May 5-27th, 2001 is $22,000 per team including airfare and hotels.

Current GreatEscape2001® countries include: Egypt, China, Thailand, Italy, Israel, Greece, Laos, France, Turkey and Nepal.

GreatEscape2001® is organized by GreatEscape Adventures, Inc. a Santa Monica-based travel event and entertainment company in conjunction with the GreatEscape Foundation. Their website can be visited at www.GreatEscape2001.com.
